Three years since my last visit to Mr Hendricks and not much has changed - excellent in every way from the food to the decor to the atmosphere.
Mr Hendricks is a stand out for decor and atmosphere with an amazing outdoor area out the back. Highly recommend asking to be seated out there no matter the weather. The service is also great and pretty fast, drinks were out within 5 mins of ordering and food soon after - so don't worry if you're hangry because it isn't a long wait. It just the perfect vibes for brunch!
The most major change since I last came here is that I now eat seafood so I had a try of the Soft Shell Crab Roll (Cabbage, cucumber, thai dressing, charcoal bun). Loved it. The soft shell crab was battered in the most flavoursome mix and tasted amazing with the thai dressing salad. Only complaint is that there needed to be more sauce/dressing just to balance out the deep fried textures.
I had high expectations for the french toast because my last visit had the best french toast I've ever had. Three years later they have a Chocolate Brioche French Toast (Blueberry poached pears, dehydrated blueberries, caramel sauce, double cream) now. The addition of chocolate strangely enough doesn't make the dish sweeter - quite the opposite because it makes the dish creamier. Chocolate oozes out of every crevice of the toast - very well soaked. Pear was perfectly poached though there wasn't much of a blueberry flavour which I didn't mind though as there was enough flavour overall. Cream on the side would've been of more use if there was more caramel sauce which would be the only thing I think the dish really needed.
LOVED THIS PLACE. Definitely worthwhile for a first...second...or third visit. It represents the suburbs and the quality brunch at its best :)
