One of the most instagrammable cafes in Melbourne, White Mojo! Everything from the lighting to plates and tables is designed to maximise the photo taking environment.
As expected, the line for this place is massive and I do advise going earlier in the morning or checking their Balwyn branch if you're a bit adverse to waiting. The atmosphere is palpable with the excitement of brunch and the theatrics that White Mojo delivers on but lets get on to the food!
For savoury we had the Signature Croissant Burger (soft shell crab, chipotle mayo, smoked eel, pickled cucumber, chorizo crumb, fried eggs and buttery croissant). Delicious in every way with a mixture of textures from crunchy to creamy working as a result of the amazing chipotle mayo which tied all the pieces of the puzzle together. I'm not normally one to understand the hype around soft shell crab (don't judge me) but in this dish it had its place and really accentuated the buttery croissant. Winner dish.
Following that as always I had to have to dessert which this was the Sweet & Sour Waffle (Nutella frosting, lemon curd, strawberry gel, macerated raspberry, toasted lemon meringue, seasonal & freeze dried fruit, citrus sorbet, waffle cone, buttery waffle). First up, where the hell was my waffle cone?! Still a beautiful dish but presentation is everything to me and I was so excited to see it so that was a disappointment. Otherwise it was a great dish which balanced the sweet and acidic flavours perfectly considering the mass amount of sugar indicated in the ingredient listing.
Overall, I would recommend White Mojo based on the food though as a result of being really busy the service was a let down being quite slow and hard to get anyones attention.
