The saving grace of Double Brunch Weekend...No.19 in Ascot Vale! Worth the trek out to the northern suburbs to check out this awesome cafe with all the goods. Cute, busy and delicious - nothing was going to get me down! Read on for Part 2 of Double Brunch Weekend!
Honestly - this place is a must go right off the bat. From the moment we walked in we were seated almost immediately and the staff were attentive from start to finish of our meal. Service is relatively quick but drinks do take a while to arrive as ours did not get to the table until after our dishes...so be warned. The decor of the cafe is also perfectly instaworthy - bright and modern with a friendly feel to it.
ON TO THE FOOD! We had the Pulled Pork Benedict (potato rosti, braised greens, poached egg, hollandaise). Sounds like your average benny right? NO...it was so so so flavoursome with a whole bunch of spice into the pulled pork that made is simply amazing. The potato rosti was also crispy on the outside and soft on the inside so ticks all around for this dish!
Next up was the Nutella Pancake Sandwich (peanut butter parfait, honeycomb, dulce de leche, burnt white chocolate crumb, meringue + additional Nutella sauce) which was as rich and delicious as you can imagine. I love a bit of theatrics with my brunch so being able to pour the Nutella sauce over the pancakes was a bit of a treat. The actual dish felt like it was designed for a peanut butter lover's fantasy. The parfait is simply EVERYWHERE and the peanut flavour is strong. I loved this dish but my main complaints would be that it was extremely rich and the use of the Nutella sauce - use it sparingly as it does overwhelm the other flavours on the dish a bit.
Extra shout out to the Oreo shake we ordered. Probably one of the best I've ever had - MIND BLOWN.
Overall...No.19 is definitely worth the drive out to Ascot Vale to try some of these amazing dishes and be treated to some great hospitality :)
