Some of the best brunch spots are in the places you least expect. Down a busy street in Bentleigh, tucked in and amongst your mum and pop shops, is a brilliant cafe by the name of Little Tommy Tucker!
First up, the cafe has plenty of space and sticks to your usual brunch layouts and decor. Nothing spectacular in that sense but the food was off the charts so let's make a start on the review!
The Eggs Benedict (Bacon, sourdough, poached eggs, hollandaise, apple and mustard puree) was GREAT. There is something to be said about a dish that is so simple but executed so perfectly - this was one of them. Simple and faultless - I loved the purée, the bacon was perfect and fatty, and the size was generous. I couldn’t fault it!
Next up, the Raspberry & White Chocolate Hotcakes (Butterscotch Nutella ganache, fresh fruit, white chocolate cookie snow) which were beautifully fluffy and DELICIOUS. Probably some of the best hotcakes I’ve had in terms of fluffiness and flavour. I loved how the syrup mixed in with the ganache so it’s not too rich and added some additional dimension to the dish. The pops of freshness from fruit complemented the dish though it could've done with a cream element for a little oomph. Only fault would be that the watermelon could've been left off as it was a bit weird.
My taste buds were in LOVE with the food here. Amazing in every way so if you want a great brunch head here and you will definitely not be disappointed!
